A class can be a lovely part of a week here without becoming another thing you have to achieve on vacation. You might want to keep your usual practice, try Pilates for the first time or spend an hour moving somewhere new.

Start with the kind of class you enjoy, then choose a location that fits your day. Dominical and Dominicalito have several options, and visitors staying in Uvita can either head north for a class or look at a local session closer to their accommodation.

The Shala at Casa Kia Ora: morning yoga in Dominicalito

The Shala is about 500 meters inland from the main road, opposite the Dominicalito beach entrance. Its published schedule has yoga daily at 9am, with classes lasting about 60–75 minutes depending on the day.

The weekly program also lists mat Pilates on Tuesdays at 10:30am and a Monday sound-healing session after yoga. Mats are available to borrow, so you don't need to fill half your suitcase with equipment for a few classes.

The listed general drop-in is ₡7,000, with separate class-pass and local rates. Use The Shala's schedule for the current teacher, format and payment information. Contact the studio ahead for a group.

Rockstar Yoga: classes in Pueblo del Río, Dominical

Rockstar Yoga is in Pueblo del Río, the plaza associated with Mama Toucan's and Mono Congo. Check in at its shop before heading up to the studio.

Its published timetable lists Monday–Saturday at 8am, plus Wednesday and Friday at 4pm. The program includes flowing and slower classes, with the specific style set by the current schedule.

General drop-in rates are listed as ₡8,000, or ₡10,000 with a mat. That distinction is worth knowing before carrying your own through town. Rockstar's class page links to the latest timetable and explains the different class styles.

Danyasa: an open-air studio in central Dominical

Danyasa's Bamboo Yoga Play studio is part of its eco-retreat on Dominical's main street, across from the public school. It offers yoga, dance and other movement practices through classes, workshops and retreats.

You can ask about a drop-in without booking a stay. Its class and event information is the starting point for the current program, and its FAQ explains how to find the entrance.

If you're interested in dance, look at the actual workshop or class description. A yoga flow, a dance workshop and a teacher training are different commitments, even when they happen in the same studio.

Tropicália: Pilates and movement

Tropicália Spa & Wellness is another local option for Pilates, including private sessions. Flow also recommends checking its current program for dance classes.

A private appointment can make sense if you want individual instruction rather than joining a group timetable. Tell the teacher whether you're new to Pilates, what equipment you've used and what sort of session you're looking for. Its official page is the place to request the current program and meeting pin.

Staying in Uvita? Check Whale Tail's garden sessions

Whale Tail lists individual and group yoga in its garden setting, arranged through the front desk. It's an option when you'd rather keep the class close to your Uvita plans instead of driving north for an early start.

The in-house experiences page explains the booking arrangement. Arrange a session first rather than arriving at a time borrowed from another studio's schedule.

Make room to enjoy the class

Wear clothes you can move in, bring water and arrive with a little time to settle in. If you've just finished surfing, rinse off before walking into the studio; everyone appreciates leaving the sand at the beach.

Choose the class for your energy that day. A demanding surf session followed by an equally demanding class may be more activity than you wanted, while a slower practice can be exactly the change of pace you were hoping for. Our relaxed seven-day itinerary leaves room for both.
